I chose The Cellist of Sarajevo for this month's book club at the Vibe. It was my turn to choose. It was interesting since of the 10 people that came, 3 of us had read it years before. One woman had read it in a Book Club a decade ago.
Everyone liked it, and many were shocked that it was based on a true tale. One woman in our club knows a Department of State worker and quizzed him about the war and all. Everyone was interested. It was good.
And I made the traditional Bosnian food of Ćevapi and Burek (Bosnian spellings), and someone brought homemade strawberry tiramisu.
Anyway, the book was fascinating after so long away from it. Sadly, it is even more prophetic today than a decade ago. But it was a good night. Lots of talking and enjoying conversation.
